In America, actions to stem the coronavirus pandemic are largely directed by Dr Antony Fauci. His advice is frequently broadcast, and he advises President Trump.
Yet there are many suspicions to be found online that suggest he is involved in the creation of this virus.
In 2014, the National Institutes for Health (in the US) funded Shi Zheng-Li, a virologist at the Wuhan lab, and other researchers to investigate and catalogue bat coronaviruses in the wild. This part of the project was completed in 2019 and was given a budget of $3.7 million.
A second phase of the project, beginning that year, included gain-of-function research for the purpose of understanding how bat coronaviruses could mutate to attack humans. In layman's terms, genetic engineering was carried out on the viruses to see if they could be altered to become infectious to humans.
Well it sure looks like they succeeded!
Antony Fauci has been the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the NIH, since 1984, and still is.
Isn't it ironic that the man who may be involved in creating this virus, which may then have leaked, deliberately or otherwise, from the Wuhan laboratory, is also responsible for advising on controlling its spread.
A conflict of interest perhaps?
If this virus came from an animal market in Wuhan, I'm a Dutchman.
